Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian Description:
Book 1 in the New York Times and #1 internationally bestselling Midnight Breed vampire romance series

He watches her from across the crowded dance club, a sensual black-haired stranger who stirs Gabrielle Maxwell's deepest fantasies. But nothing about this night--or this man--is what it seems. For when Gabrielle witnesses a murder outside the club, reality shifts into something dark and deadly. In that shattering instant she is thrust into a realm she never knew existed--a realm where vampires stalk the shadows and a blood war is set to ignite.

Lucan Thorne despises the violence carried out by his lawless brethren. A vampire himself, Lucan is a Breed warrior, sworn to protect his kind--and the unwitting humans existing alongside them--from the mounting threat of the Rogues. Lucan cannot risk binding himself to a mortal woman, but when Gabrielle is targeted by his enemies, he has no choice but to bring her into the dark underworld he commands.

Here, in the arms of the Breed's formidable leader, Gabrielle will confront an extraordinary destiny of danger, seduction, and the darkest pleasures of all. . . .

Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian Review:
A good introduction to the series. There was excitement, discovery, betrayal and acceptance, which all worked hand in hand to make this work for me.

Lucan was tall, dark and super mysterious, but had a sexy appeal to him that made you feel a pull to him...this desire to get to know him and hope he wanted to stick around. He had such a nobility about him, coupled with some old world manners and charm that you could not help but be drawn to him, and feel a sense of hurt for him as the book went on. you just wanted him to end up happy.

Gabrielle got on my nerves some, but almost all female characters do. But given her new found reality and the shock of who and what is involved with it, I guess that would make anyone act a tad off. She got better as the book went on and Lucan made himself more present to her.

The characters that were introduced in this book to start the series were all different, complex and some were rather funny. The interaction and commentary between the characters leaves you finding a few favorites that you look forward to learning more about.
