Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood) by J.R. Ward Review

Dark Lover by J.R. Ward - paranormal romance
Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood) by J.R. Ward

Dark Lover by J.R. Ward Description
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

Dark Lover by J.R. Ward Review
What an excellent writer this is! Dark Lover will easily make the best seller book lists and win awards. I love paranormal romances (as well as all other kinds of romances - having read hundreds of them) and this is top quality. At first, I was dismayed by the level of violence and cussing in this book, it being even grittier than Kenyon's and Feehan's works. Still, I think Sherrilyn Kenyon fans will love this. The romance was superb - not overboard on the sex but plenty of detailed sensuality - just perfect! We get to meet several lovable(ha!) characters which will make up future books in this series and I will read them all, even if I am flinching a bit at all the blood, gore and language. The romantic line is worth it.

Bedtime Erotica by Lexy Harper Book Review

Bedtime Erotica by Lexy Harper
Bedtime Erotica by Lexy Harper

Bedtime Erotica by Lexy Harper Description
Bedtime Erotica is a collection of eight explicit short stories that will leave a lasting impression. It starts off with a cautionary tale in Another Woman and quickly shifts to the more subtly erotic Double The Trouble, a story of a woman desired equally by her boyfriend and his identical twin. Lexy constantly turns the heat up and down with each story, leaving the reader's passions simmering until they get to Oxford Blue, a beautifully written tale of a mature woman's seduction by her son's friend that will make you question your morals and ends in a bang with Telephone Sex: a raw, nasty and in-your-face story which is a prelude to the next book in the series: Bedtime Erotica for Freaks (like me). The characters are all different: from the young, shy, virginal to the sassy, sexy, downright outrageous, mature, older woman. They each take a pleasure-filled adventure to satisfy a sexual hunger that craves ultimate fulfilment.

Bedtime Erotica by Lexy Harper Review
This book will have you up all night reading to see what happens next. Some erotica stories can be very repetitious resulting in boredom, but this book is not it.

This is great stuff. Hot stories that are just the right length and what makes it so appealing is that they are about different people from different walks of life and that is what makes it so refreshingly real and erotic. It makes for a more enjoyable read almost as if it is a different writer for each story. Lexy really takes us in to her world; it feels as though we are a fly on the wall watching the action, like reality TV in a book. More than just a voyeurs dream, it is an essential education in relationships. Learning about what men and women really want from each other and what they can give each other to emphasise their pleasure and take their love making to new heights of ecstasy is what it is all about.

Her One-Night Prince by Rebecca J. Clark Review

Her One-Night Prince by Rebecca J. Clark

Her One-Night Prince Description:
[BookStrand Contemporary Romance] Her One-Night Prince is a Cinderella story about a woman's dream to be something she's not for just one night at her class reunion. As all fairy tales go, however, happy endings don't come easily. Shy and sheltered Lydia St. Clair is uncomfortable around men, so she advertises for a gay man to be her date and revamp her style. Mitch Gannon answers Lydia's ad, and he's perfect for the job--he's handsome and, even more important, he's charming. Unbeknownst to Lydia, Mitch is straight and answered the ad as the unwitting victim of a practical joke. Before he can reveal the truth, Lydia is convinced he's her fairy godmother, ready to transform her into the belle of the ball. And Mitch, prince that he is, doesn't have the heart to set her straight. ** A BookStrand Mainstream Romance

Her One-Night Prince Review:
This is definitely a Romance. The central theme is the development and deepening attraction of the two main characters. It is light and not a long story, making it fun to read.

There had been more depth to the main characters earlier in the story but by the end of the story, you shed real tears. Lydia's father, somewhat a central character in the story, as he makes things happen, comes through much more complete before either Mitch or Lydia do.

You always like the romance in the story. It felt real. Characters found themselves attracted to one another but not the heart throbbing, dying to be in each other's arms sort of thing found in so many romances. This is more like a "You've Got Mail" kind of attraction.

Rebecca J. Clark does a good job of writing the playfulness of the relationship as it develops between Mitch and Lydia.

Catherine and the Captain by Margaret Lake

Catherine and the Captain by Margaret Lake Description:
The King is dead; Long live the King Catherine Neville has no idea what these events will mean to her. Though of the nobility herself, she lives under the thumb of her cousin, the Duchess of Gloucester. Until Captain Kyle Fallon reminds her that she once led a very different life. She fears him as the man who shattered her secure world so many years ago, but is her memory of those events playing her false? Captain Fallon does not recognize her as the young girl who changed the course of his life. All he sees is a beautiful woman ensnared by the tyranny of the weak. All he wants is to show Catherine that she doesn't have to give in to her demanding cousin. He didn't count on being ensnared himself by her kind and caring nature. When the Duchess becomes Queen, Catherine is drawn into a web of political and personal intrigue. Can Fallon rescue Catherine in time? Or will she throw herself into danger by choosing duty and honor over love. Catherine and the Captain begins with the death of Edward IV and spans the reign of Richard III.

Catherine and the Captain by Margaret Lake Review:
Catherine and the Captain is a very engaging piece of historical fiction covering the short, violent reign of Richard III during the War of the Roses. The Battle of Bosworth Field, as recounted (and footnoted) by Ms Lake, was the decisive battle that ended the war, the House of York, the Plantagenet dynasty and the Middle Ages in England. This is a must read for any fans of romantic, historical fiction and a good read for anyone else that likes a well told story.

How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire Review:
This is a adult romance series. It's mostly about good vampires, but has some shape shifters too. I've read about ten of them, and they can be read in any order. Usually we find a human girl falling in love with a good vampire, but in later books we have shape shifters finding romance as well. The good vamps drink bottled synthetic blood and fight the bad vamps who kill humans. They must sleep all day while being guarded by humans and shape shifters.
